Goal setting

I don't want to live a life where I am merely surviving. I want a life of meaning. I want to be the best version of myself for me, my husband, and my son. The way to ensure that my actions and decisions are put to good use is to set goals. I have told others to make sure that their daily actions are a leading them toward their goals. I am finally going to do the same. First I need to write some goals.
  1. Write more.
  2. Get back into my hobbies.
  3. Pay off all credit card debt.
These goals are pretty weak. If I use the S.M.A. R.T. method then these don't quite cut it. The S.M.A.R.T. method of goal planning is some thing I learned about while writing treatment plans in school.

Next step would be to adjust set goals to fit this criteria.

Original goal: Write more.
SMART goal: Over the next three months, I will publish at least 1 blog post a week by scheduling time every weekend to write.

Original goal: Get back into my hobbies.
SMART goal: In the next three months, I will:
  • identify hobbies
  • fit hobbies into categories
    • stay in shape
    • make money
    • be creative
  • determine which are realistic in pursuing while caring for a newborn
Original goal: Pay off credit card debt.
Smart goal: Pay off credit card debt by 31 July 2016.

This is only the beginning of my 2016 goals. I will accomplish each goal by planning ahead and adjusting life situations. Blog post will follow expanding on each of these specifically.
